Your First Visit to Immanuel!
We are glad that you are interested in attending a worship service at Immanuel Fellowship Church. We hope this brief introduction will help you better prepare for your first visit.
When we arrive, you will meet people who are eager to see you. You won’t be put on the spot, and if you want to quietly slip into the service, you are welcome to (you won’t be publicly pointed out or urged to greet people you don’t know). But you will also be able to get to know people who, with you, are trying to better live out God’s call for their lives.
There is no dress code for worship. Some people feel more comfortable dressing up. Others prefer to dress casually. No matter our outward appearance, we recognize that God looks at the heart (1 Samuel 16:7).
Our goal for Sunday worship is to be fed by God as he speaks to us through the reading, preaching, and singing of his word, the Bible. This means you should expect a service that focuses on God’s amazing work of salvation. We need to work out our own salvation. But we can only do so if we are trusting that God is at work in us (Philippians2:12–13).
The worship service at Immanuel is designed to be a conversation between God and his people. You will notice a “back-and-forth” theme where God speaks through his word and his people respond with confession, worship, and giving.
In our singing, we strive to use the best songs from the entire history of God’s people. This means that we sing Psalms (Colossians 3:16), traditional hymns, and more contemporary spiritual songs that faithfully and fully reflect the teaching of the Scripture.
In accordance with the pattern of the early church (1 Corinthians 16:1–2, 2 Corinthians 9, 10) part of our worship is offering to God a portion of what he has given to us. As our guest, you should not feel obliged to contribute when the plates are passed. If you could, though, we would be glad to have you complete our simple “welcome card” and place it in the plate so our pastor could connect with you following your visit.
After the service, you are invited to grab a cup of coffee and a snack near the fellowship hall (located directly behind the worship hall). During the school year there are church education classes available for all ages.
Pastor Boekestein would love to meet you and interact with any questions or observations you might have about our church. If you would like to chat with him before coming to worship you are welcome to contact him at:

Hopefully you now feel a little better prepared to worship with us.
We can’t wait to meet you!
